Gazing at My Savior

This Easter Sunday finds me Gazing at my Savior, for He has transformed my life and is my everything! Through His death and resurrection, His precious blood has provided me with salvation, healing, deliverance, peace, joy and contentment. I once was lost, and now I am found! I am aware of this truth throughout the year, but I find it is important to celebrate this holiday, bringing a special remembrance of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us! It is so easy to take it for granted and allow life’s busyness and struggles to get in the way of a thankful heart for the ultimate gift of God’s precious Son!

Many years ago, during a church leadership school, God gave me a picture in my mind’s eye of myself gazing into the face of Jesus, with his hand holding my chin up to look at him. And in his wrist was the scar from the nail that held Him on the cross. That week, I drew the picture I saw, and then later, painted this watercolor painting as an act of worship, gazing at my Savior. It is only by His sacrifice and shed blood that I can live an abundant life. So this is a self-portrait, but it is so much more than that to me. It is a personal expression of my love for my Savior. And it is a reminder of the posture I desire to maintain every day of my life: one of singular focus on Him. When my eyes stray to the circumstances in my life, I choose to fix my eyes back on Him. When I am able to keep my focus on Him, I find the peace and joy in the midst of every situation. May you find the grace to fix your eyes on Jesus!
