My family just got home from a three week vacation traveling to the Eastern U.S. and saw so many amazing sights! We usually travel west to see family, but this year decided to see some new territory. When we travel, my husband usually drives, so I am left to enjoy the beautiful scenery of our amazing country! I keep my Canon Rebel T3 camera ready, or my iPhone in a pinch! It’s not ideal taking photos from a moving car, but I don’t think my husband would stop every time I see a lovely scene, or tranquil farm! So I snap away and then delete most of them later! Thank God for digital cameras! Most of the landscapes I paint come from photos I have taken as we travel the country.

I will post reviews of some of the Art Museums and sights we saw on our vacation in other posts. But today I wanted to share just a few of the photos I took of our beautiful countryside and amazing cities in our great nation.

We started our vacation touring Gettysburg.

Whenever we travel, I am always inspired and refreshed in my roles as wife, mom, grandma, and artist. It’s so fun to get away, but I always find I appreciate my home and routine more after I’ve been gone. I especially love the opportunity to see so many fabulous sites, and bring home photos to inspire future artwork. Keep your eyes out for paintings of these scenes and more in the coming year!

  2. These are great pictures, Julie. They all brought back so many memories from a visit there long ago. I can go back there in my mind now.
